How to incorporate the colors of fall into your store displays

The warm colors of fall are perhaps one of the most characteristic of all the seasons, considering they stem largely from the stunning foliage the autumn season is known for. Gold, orange, rust, deep red, olive and wine are all colors that are perfect for fall, and incorporating them into your store displays will be sure to attract customers looking for the latest fall merchandise.

Of course, pumpkin orange is a classic hue for fall, but it's not the only one. Basically every shade that you can see in the changing foliage of the trees is fair game for decorating for fall. Mix dark hues like wine with a light bronze, or an olive green with gold for a different take on the traditional colors of fall. It can look stunning to mix neutral shades like chocolate brown and taupe with brighter hues like orange and red.

Fall decorating in your home is different than decorating your store. You will want to use fall colors in some capacity in your window displays, since many shoppers are drawn to seasonal colors and merchandise. Because this is only for the fall season, incorporate the hues in a non-permanent way. Instead of painting a wall, for instance, cover one of your display tables with a bright tablecloth.

Lighting is another good place to incorporate fall colors. In addition to your normal lighting in your window displays, consider adding an orange, gold or deep red gel to some of the lights to create a warm, fall-inspired glow to your merchandise. Fall is also a good time to use gold display fixtures as opposed to silver or black. From your clothes racks to your hangers and jewelry displays, choosing gold this season will make the entire color scheme come together.
