Running a retail store means that you need to be on top of the latest trends. Winter is right around the corner, and while you may think trends in the coming months will mean another season of dark colors for women, you may be in for a surprise.
Retailers such as J. Crew are filling their store displays with bright colors for women. Their fall and winter lines feature bright pastels that are sure to stand out in a sea of dark colors. Not only is this a great change for your display tables, but women may love it too, as they'll feel like they can transition these colors to any time of year.
Brights are back
For customers who are afraid to rock funky colors year-round, let them know that this trend can be broken up. Style.com reports when some of the top fashion designers in the world sent their models down the runway for their Fall 2012 shows, many were rocking subtle pops of color.
Some of the shades seen on the runway included cobalt blue and bright red mixed in with camel tones and black. Thanks to heavier materials, women don't have to worry that their spring colored ensembles won't protect them from the cold. The runways showcased wool coats and pants in these bright colors, making them snow-friendly.
Fawning over florals
Interestingly, the news provider reports that winter florals were a part of the fashion canvas. Designers such as Comme des Garcons and Richard Chai Love showed off some boxy silhouettes – which are also big this season – paired with some delicate floral patterns.
Other ways to wear color
If you feel as though these daring trends break the rules of fashion a bit too much, you're in luck. For the more conservative customers, fill your display tables with colorful accessories. Even the girl who favors an all-black ensemble may think differently when presented with the opportunity to rock a bright shoe or offset the dreary winter sky with a pastel colored clutch.
If you also sell cosmetics, you'll want to be sure to showcase bright colors on your display fixtures. Oprah reports that bright colors can extend from fashion to makeup. Tangerine tango was the color of 2012, and the news provider reports it's still possible to rock this bright hue into the later months if you wear it as a lipstick for a surprising pop of color.
