Since summer is just around the corner, we've come up with a list of "buzzwords" that will likely be on shoppers' minds when they visit your store in the coming weeks.

Summertime is all about taking it easy and enjoying the weather, so your customers will want a relaxing shopping experience during this time of year. The cozy, intimate setting that you had going during wintertime will start to feel crowded and annoying, so spread out your displays and give your shop a more airy feeling. If you have the capabilities, leave your doors or windows open to let in the fresh air and a warm summer breeze.

In the cold days of winter, customers may be looking for apparel that is comfortable, cozy and warm. Now, however, they are likely ready to hit the town in their trendy summer outfits. Use this to your advantage by dressing your adult and child mannequins in your most fashionable getups. Bright colors, eye-catching patterns and plenty of accessories will help remind customers that now is the time to show off their high-end taste in apparel.

School will be ending soon for many if it hasn't already, which means your younger shoppers are looking forward to a few months of care-free fun before classes start again. If you cater to children and teens, push your "fun" items like games, pool toys and electronics. You can even make a window display around this theme by placing a display table stocked with your most fun items front and center. Use a brightly colored backdrop to give the setup even more pizzazz.

Many people book vacations during the months of June, July and August, so if you sell items that travelers may need, move them to the front of your store. A wall display showing off the different purses, backpacks and suitcases you have is a good start. You can also stock your display cases with towels, sunglasses, flip flops and other items that tourists will be looking for as they prepare for their big getaway.
