Are you ready for bridal season?

Are you ready for bridal season?

Love is in the air – and not just because Valentine’s Day is around the corner. This is the time of year many couples are planning their nuptials. May and June are two of the most popular months for weddings, which means now is the time when merchants will begin courting upcoming brides and grooms. From a retail perspective, there are many different aspects to consider when creating displays geared toward soon-to-be newlyweds.

Apparel is king
When one thinks of the term “bridal shopping,” apparel is likely the first thing that comes to mind. While brides will certainly want their pick of beautiful white gowns, keep in mind that others are going to need new formal clothes in the coming months. Grooms might want to buy tuxedos, while groomsmen may opt instead to rent. Either way, it’s a good idea to stock up on mannequins for sale now to display your offerings.

Bridesmaids will also need dresses this year. While many brides ask the women they choose to stand in their bridal party to wear matching gowns, a popular trend now is to have bridesmaids select their own style of dress in the same hue. You can take advantage of this fad by showcasing dresses of the same or similar colors on a matching set of hangers or a wall display.

Even if you don’t sell formal bridal wear, bear in mind that there will be many wedding attendees who want to look their best for the important ceremonies coming up this spring. Use your mannequins and gondola shelves to showcase your best formal wear for those who will be bearing witness to sacred unions over the next few months.

For other retailers
Merchants who don’t sell apparel can still get in on the wedding retail game. There is a lot that goes into wedding planning aside from bridal gowns, tuxedos and fancy clothing. For example, many brides and grooms will be looking for creative favors to give guests. If you sell small items that may make good after-party presents, place them on display tables in your front window. Be sure to decorate with lots of wholesale ribbon and tissue paper so guests get the idea that you carry ideal wedding favors. You can even offer discount gift wrap services to brides and grooms as a way to drive sales.
