4 window display ideas for the new year

The new year is swiftly approaching and it may be time to refresh your window displays for the occasion. While you might not have time to rearrange store fixtures before New Year’s Eve itself, a themed display could last you throughout January, while the holiday is still on your customers’ minds.

As you prepare to dismantle your Christmas displays, consider these ideas for New Year’s Eve designs.

1. Quote-worthy display
There’s an endless supply of inspirational sayings about the New Year that would look great sprawled across your street-facing display. You can go with something simple like, “Out with the old, in with the new,” or a more philosophical quote such as, “Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new beginning,” from author Carl Bard. Another great option is a quote from Austrian poet Rainer Maria Rilke, which reads, “And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been.”

Perhaps there’s a quote that lends itself more directly to your business. Search around the Internet for a while for the perfect sentiment, and print it neatly on the glass with window paint.

2. This year I will…
Take the notion of New Year’s resolutions and apply it to your business for a festive window display. Depending on what industry you’re in, signage can be tailored to your merchandise, or you can go with common resolutions that your patrons might have made. For example, a bookstore could post a list that says, “In 2015, I will read more,” while a cafe or coffee shop may go with, “Stick with your New Year’s resolution and choose a skinny latte today.”

Alternatively, you can craft a creative display that includes some popular resolutions, such as eating healthier, saving money or learning a new hobby.

3. A toast to merchandising
An iconic symbol of New Year’s celebrations is a Champagne flute brimming with bubbly. If you incorporate glasses or bottles into your window displays, everyone will know exactly why. Look for champagne flutes in bulk at an inexpensive price to construct a delicate tower. This is a classy look that gives off an air of elegance for your store and reminds passersby of the festive time of the year.

You can also suspend the glasses from ceiling so they hang at different heights. With colorful lights and Metallic Silver Display Sheeting, the flutes will contribute to playful reflections that gleam from the windows.

4. Winter wonderland
There are still several months of winter ahead, so a display that focuses on snowy days is fitting as well. Use Scatter Flakes and White Vinyl Display Sheeting for an all-white design, which will allow the merchandise you arrange to pop. To tie it in with the New Year theme, place large numbers in the background – but make sure they’re a bold color so customers can see them. A prominent “2015” in your window display will remind shoppers that it’s a new year to start fresh.
